For Nourished Communities, an Islington-based grocery store, workshop and community space, the list included a global pandemic, independent farming, an innovative idea, an energetic team and a genuine love for human connection. Chapel Market has fostered a community spirit over

Chapel Market has fostered a community spirit over the years. Founded in Islington in the early 19th century, this market is a true local gem and a perfect place to spend your Sunday morning: the cosy smells of homemade bread are the best cure for winter blues, trust me. What becomes a confluence of local residents, visitors, students, families, and their furry friends creates a comforting atmosphere for browsing, shopping and chatting with local vendors. A couple Sundays back, the Islington Storyteller explored the growing community of London markets by sitting down with several local vendors to find out what makes their products unique.

His most recent one-man creation is The Man of 100 Faces. The play reintroduces the exciting life of Sr Paul Dukes, a musician, author and secret agent in revolutionary Russia.

It is heartwarming to see the community constantly growing – a massive thank you for being part of this passion project.

More on doing groceries locally! Although fairly new, this one is a catch 😊

Every product ay @nourishedcommunities is handpicked by the team, with a strong focus on small and medium-sized local producers.

Really great veg, fresh bread, surprisingly huge variety of hot sauces (and each of them with a beautifully unique story - ask the team!)

The main location is 3 minutes walk from Highbury&Islignton, and around the corner from @estorickcollection. Now they've also got a cafe in King's Cross (opened a couple months ago).

Good thing - you can order online or pop down to the shop for a browse. Will be definitely coming back soon ☃️
