Feeling a faint trace of nostalgia as I step through the greens of New River Walk – how difficult it is to believe that Summer has come to an end! As the weather becomes more breezy and sunny days feel like an ever more precious occurrence, the Islington Storyteller would like to share some recommendations on all that is worth discovering in Islington and nearby areas this month.
Theatre
3rd September – 1st October. The Clinic at Alameida Theatre.
The Clinic is a fiercely political and lyrical play by “seriously exciting new talent” (Evening Standard ) Dipo Baruwa-Etti, written during a twelve-month residency with the Almeida as part of the Channel 4 Playwrights’ bursary.

20th September – 24th September. The Drought at the King’s Head Theatre.
Winner of the 2021 London Horror Playwriting competition, The Drought (written by Nina Atesh) is an atmospheric dark thriller about how purpose shapes our lives and mankind’s relationship with nature.

Immerse yourself into the world of contemporary dance and music. The Islington Storyteller is especially excited about House of Flamenka running from 27th September- 8th October.

Art
4-11th September – Ezen Foundation Fan Exhibition.
An exhibition by Shanghai-born artist, Dehua Liu, where he presents an extensive collection of traditionally painted fans and hand-carved seals. Ezen Group will be hosting free events on September 8th and 11th featuring talks by the artist and suiboku painting demonstrations.

10-11th September – Open House at the Estorick Collection.
Discover the Estorick Collection, a gallery featuring 20th-century Italian art, including a core of Futurist masterpieces. During Open House 2022 there will be free tours on Saturday 10th September at 12.00 and 15.00 and Sunday 11th September at 12.30 and 15.00.
