Many of the Islington Storytellers share the love for good food… Alex has previously recommended Noci as part of the Weekend in Islington guide. Now, Bronagh has written up a review of her recent experience at Noci, a place that is already on many foodies’ bucket lists.
Opened on the 11th of March and Located in Islington Green, Noci is both trendy and welcoming. We were greeted by a very polite member of staff, and taken to our table. The place was busy and the atmosphere was buzzing.
We ordered the House Peach Spritz, an absolute steal at £5. There was the perfect amount of peach flavouring, which wasn’t overwhelming and was very refreshing. After this, we shared a bottle of the house white wine which, again, at £22 was very reasonable and delicious.
Now onto the good stuff… the food! To start I had the Tuna Steak, and my guest had the Squid Fritti. The tuna was melt-in-the-mouth perfect. It truly was cooked to perfection, and perhaps the best tuna steak I’ve had. It came with a side of green beans and sundried tomatoes, very light and full of flavour. My guest’s squid was seasoned delicately and was the perfect size for a starter. The accompanying bagna cauda could best be described as ‘pillow-y’ and it complimented the squid impeccably. As two massive fish lovers, we gave these starters two thumbs up.
For my main, I chose the Wild Mushroom Silk Handkerchiefs and my guest decided on the Veal and Pork Genovese Ragu. We were both massive fans of these mains and would definitely have them again. The portion sizes were just right, two magnificent dishes, with high praise from both of us.
Overall, Noci is a brilliant addition to Islington Green and all of the other restaurants in the borough. The service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable considering how great the quality was.
